Compass 360* intergration. Aim N view. Detailed target info. Night vision maps. Just works well.
Was crashing without even opening since the ios6 update was released before ios6 itself was released but now that I have it the app works great, just like it used to.
Hello Dear Administrator of Starry; I bought this App. And I upleated yesterday after that I am not see stars any thing. Please help me Best regards Abdullah from Turkey
:)
This is a pretty cool app once you get the hang of it.
Aside from not knowing how to search for things, this app is really cool. It labels everything, shows orbits, and much more.
Best app I have found! When you get the hang of it this app works great by just moving your phone look anywhere. Look down and find the sun on the other side of the Earth. And does not lag. Five stars!!
Where is the tutorial? Even though I put in the correct Longitude and Latitude, this app thinks Im on the other side of the world. The sun is in the sky not on the ground.
I think this app is perfect for astronomers of all ages.there is only 3 rivals to starry I can think of : starwalk, redshift and APOD. Good app overall.happy stargazing!, The astronomer
Really like the app; the problem I have is that the direction (N, S, E, W) is not always pointing the correct direction. If this can be corrected, I would give the app a 5* rating. If anyone has a solution, please post. Thanks!
It is all I need to find my way around the sky!!!
Let me start off by saying that this is a top-notch app! In 1884 it was decided that the Prime Meridian (the place where East meets West on a map) would be in line with the Royal Greenwich Observatory in the United Kingdom so the Earth would have a standardized method of measuring longitude as opposed to having several Prime Meridians all over the globe as there had been before. Since the Earth is round and there are 360 degrees in a circle, it was best to count up to 180 degrees half-way around the world and then have another Prime Meridian that began to subtract numbers to avoid having a longitude of both 360 and 0 at the Greenwich Observatory. Usually if you are, say, 85 degrees West of 0, to find the place exactly half-way around the world you would start at 180 and then subtract 85 from it to get the Eastern measure. However, this map only measures in one direction, so if you find yourself in the Western Hemisphere (in or around the Americas) then simply add your, say, 85 degrees to 180 for a grand total of 265 degrees. This will flip Ursa Major in the right direction and raise Orion above the horizon, or account for the fact that the sun is shining. If you live to the West across the field of the Greenwich Observatory, you will find that your longitude will be very close to 360 degrees indeed. Enjoy!
I was excited about this app, but lost interest immediately after trying it out on my iPod touch. The gyro function doesnt seem to function, so very hard to have to scroll around by touching the screen. Anybody know if Im doing something wrong? Two stars without gyro.
No directions, have to click all over to find icons and no description for any of them. Doesnt do anything - I rotate and move phone -> nothing. I can drag the screen around and it stops where I leave it. Removing this now. Doesnt even deserve the one star I had to give to review
This is the best constellation app that I every used. It is accurate and works great.
It hurts to see the hater comments below due fact this app is completely free. App is lightweight, nicely designed, responsive, it has option to turn compass on, show constellation names and paths, zoom function, night mode. Yes, it lacks some options, bigger font size and manual/help file, but if you explore it yourself for 5min, you will get familiar with it. Its no nuclear science people. Many thanks to author who dedicated lots of his time in making the app.
I loaded this app both on iPad and iPhone. The automatic tilt and pan based on where you point the phone works on iPad but not on iPhone. Otherwise it is a neat app compared stellarium.
Great app for star gazing and the compass is flawless with the chart for iPhone. Perfect for the upcoming meteor shower this August!
When I tapped on mercury then info the app turns itself off. When I start the app it does not always show me the correct sky ... Im looking west, the screen shows east, etc. The control icons near bottom right do not seem to help correct issue. I am disappointed.
